03/12/11- Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal : Saturday

by Paula (Clean Eating Expert) 13. March 2011 13:37

On 3/7 and 3/8 I wrote about children’s nutrition; a topic I feel passionate about.  For me, my children are my priority.  Molding young minds and encouraging and modeling good health practices is an important, irreplaceable job.  Another important priority is encouraging confidence and self esteem in them, especially for my girls.

I remember what it was like in grade school and high school.  Girls (more so than boys) can be ruthless.  With the newer additions of Facebook, texting, and Twitter, the opportunities for caddy, horrible, destructive behavior increase.  We need to protect our daughter’s self-esteem from their own insecurities and other’s behavior.

You can protect their self esteem through education, support and protection.  Look at the dove movement.com for empowering video’s and tips to help.  Form neighborhood or school groups to give the girls information and support.  There are organizations like Girls on the Run who try and give them support through exercise and community.  It really does “take a village”…let’s be that community for our younger children today.
